Privacy policy
Effective 30 September 2026
arXiv Daily (“the app”, “we”) is a free service at aikish.ir, on the web and on Android, that shows each day's new arXiv papers in the subjects you choose, with summaries, Persian translations, spoken audio and the full papers. This policy explains what information the app collects, why, how long it is kept, who it is shared with, and how you can see, change or delete it. Questions: admin@aikish.ir.
1. Information we collect
Account information. When you create an account with an email address:
- your email address;
- your password, which is never stored as written — only a one-way bcrypt hash of it;
- optionally, a display name and a phone number, if you add them in Settings → Account.
Google Sign-In. If you choose “Continue with Google”, Google tells us, with your consent:
- your Google account identifier (a number that identifies your account to us),
- your email address and whether Google has verified it, and
- your name, used as your display name.
We ask only for the basic sign-in permissions (openid, email,
profile). We do not receive your Google password, contacts, files, calendar or any other
Google data, and we do not access your Google account after you have signed in.
Your preferences and activity in the app.
- the arXiv subjects you follow;
- papers you archive, hide (“not interested”) or download;
- podcast items you have heard, and where you stopped listening and at what speed, so you can continue on another device.
Guest use. If you continue as a guest, a temporary guest account with a random identifier is created. It holds no email or personal details and is deleted automatically within about a day.
Technical information. Like any web server, ours records requests (your IP address, the time, the address requested and your browser or app version) in server logs, which are used only for security and to fix problems, and are kept for a short period.
On your device. The app keeps some data only on your own phone or browser: your sign-in token, the language and theme you chose, recently loaded pages so they open quickly, and the full papers (PDFs) you download. These stay on your device; you can remove downloaded papers in Settings → Downloaded papers, and signing out removes the rest.
2. How we use it
- to create your account, sign you in and keep you signed in;
- to choose which papers to show you and which summaries to read aloud;
- to remember what you have heard, archived or hidden, on all your devices;
- to keep the service secure and working, and to answer you if you write to us.
We do not use your information for advertising, we do not build profiles of you for anyone else, and we do not sell or rent it. The app contains no ads and no third-party analytics or tracking.
3. Google user data
arXiv Daily's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Information from Google Sign-In is used only to create and sign in to your arXiv Daily account, is not shared with anyone, and is not used for advertising or to train any model.
4. Who we share it with
No one, except:
- Google, only if you choose Google Sign-In, which Google itself provides under its own privacy policy. The web version of the app may also load fonts and display code from Google's servers (for example fonts.gstatic.com), which then see your IP address as for any website.
- arXiv: our server, not your device, fetches papers and PDFs from arXiv, so arXiv does not learn who reads what.
- When the law requires it.
Translations and spoken audio are produced on computers operated by the service itself; your account information is not sent to them — only the text of the papers.
5. How long we keep it
- Account information, preferences and activity: until you delete your account.
- Guest accounts: deleted automatically about one day after they are made.
- Server logs: a short period, for security and troubleshooting.
- Papers, translations and audio are not personal data; they are removed on a schedule set by the administrator.
6. Your choices and rights
- See and change your name, phone number and password in Settings → Account, and your subjects in Settings.
- Delete your account and everything linked to it: write to admin@aikish.ir from the email address of the account. We delete it within 30 days and confirm by email.
- If you signed in with Google, you can also remove arXiv Daily's access at any time in your Google account's third-party connections.
- Ask us for a copy of the information we hold about you, at the same address.
7. Security
All traffic uses HTTPS. Passwords are stored only as bcrypt hashes, sign-in uses signed tokens that expire, audio and PDF links are signed and short-lived, and the administration pages require an administrator's sign-in.
8. Children
The app is meant for researchers and students and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13; if you believe we have, write to us and we will delete it.
9. Changes
If this policy changes, the new version is published here with a new effective date. Significant changes are announced in the app.
